Introduction
Setting up your Major Lists is a critical component in managing your online applications.
Important Notes:
- In order for a major to be viewable to an applicant, it must be in a Major List. That Major List must also be connected to either the Term or hard-coded as the major field.
- The standard Major List is called "Standard Majors".
- Unless you have rules to sort majors into separate Lists (re: categories), use only Standard Majors. (See Specialty apps below - CCP and CIHS.)
- Note: if you need a refresher, please review the Majors vs. Major Lists article.
- Majors must be set up before Majors Lists can be created. It is a best practice to create Major Lists before Terms, since you will select Major Lists to associate with each term.
- To find a particular Major List, type the major list name (or part of the name) into the search box at the top of the screen.
Creating Major Lists
Only do this step if you need to separate your majors into separate Major Lists based on rules.
Application | Major Lists
-
Create a New Major List - Click the + New Major List button (
) at the top of the screen
-
Name the Major List - Type a Name in the Name field for the Major List. This is an internal label that populates within the Major Lists section of CrossConnect. It’s also the name that populates when you add this Major List to a term. This name is not seen by your applicants.
- Select a Rule (If Desired) - Selecting a Rule is optional. If desired, you can select a Rule that dictates under which conditions this major list is available. The Rule dropdown list shows all rules you created (including application dynamic rules) in your selected application. You can type into the list to perform a smart search for the rule you want or scroll to locate a rule. For example, for a major list containing majors for transfer applicants only, you would select your previously created rule that identifies transfer applicants (see the Help Center article on Application Rules for more information).
-
Add Majors to the List - To add a major from the Available Majors list into your Major List’s Included Majors, click the Add icon (
) next to the majors you want to add
Note: Available Majors are populated from Majors (see Majors section in this document). Those majors with an Add icon () next to them are majors that are not yet included in your current Major List.
-
Save the Major List - Once you have all the majors added to your Included Majors that you want in your current Major List, click the Save button (
)at the top of the screen to save your changes.
Editing a Major List
Application | Major Lists
-
Select the Major List - Click on the Major List you want to edit
-
Edit the Major Included - Make your edits by clicking the Trashcan icon (
) next to a major you want to remove and/or clicking the Add icon (
) next to a major you want to add
-
Edit the Name or Rule - You can also make any changes to the major list name and rule
-
Save the Changes - Once you have made your edits, click the Save button (
) at the top of the screen
Deleting an Entire Major List
Application | Major Lists
- Choose the Major List - Select the Major List you want to delete.
-
Delete the Major List - Click the Delete button(
) at the top of the screen
- Confirm Your Decision - Click Yes when the Delete Major List message asks if you are sure you want to delete this major list. Otherwise, click No
Note: You cannot retrieve deleted major lists. If you need to add it back, you must create a new major list and add the majors back into this new list
Specialty App: CCP
The CCP application will have two Major Lists:
