New Manual Major Example
You want to manually add a new major called English (codeEng123) to the Majors section of CrossConnect:
- Click the + New Major button
- Type “English” in the Name field (this is what applicants will see on the application)
- Type “Eng123” in the Code field (this is what will populate on the backend for you, the campus)
- Click the Save button (
)
Completely Delete A Major
You want to delete the major, English (code Eng123) from the Major List “All Majors” and from the pool of all options in the Majors section.
- Within Major Lists, click the “All Majors” Major List
- Click the Trashcan icon (
) next to the major, English (code Eng123)
- Click the Save button (
)
- Navigate to the Majors area (Application | Majors)
- Click the Trashcan icon (
) next to the major English (code Eng123)
- Click Yes to the prompt, “Are you sure you want to delete this major?”
- Click the Save button (
)
Remember, you must first delete a major from any Major List it’s currently in before you will be able to delete it from the larger pool of Majors.
New Imported Majors Example
You want to import new majors to the Majors section of CrossConnect. You need to create your .csv file and then import the following majors:
Pre-Medical (code PreProfess213)
Pre-Veterinary (code PreProfess213)
Spanish (Lang*Sp65)
- Open Microsoft Excel
- Type “Name” into column A cell 1
- Type “Code” into column B cell 1
- Type “Pre-Medical” into column A cell 2 (just below “Name”)
- Type “PreProfess213” into column B cell 2 (just below “Code”)
- Type “Pre-Veterinary” into column A cell 3 (just below “Pre-Medical”)
- Type “PreProess213” into column B cell 3 (Just below “PreProfess213”)
- Type “Spanish” into column A cell 4 (just below “Pre-veterinary”)
- Type “Lang*Sp65” into column B cell 4 (Just below “PreProfess213”)
- Click File
- Select Save As
- Choose where to save this file
- Type in a Name for this file
- Under Save As select CSV
- Click Save
- Go to the Majors section in CrossConnect (Application | Majors)
- Click Import button (
) at the top of the screen
- In the new window that opens (File Upload screen), navigate to where you saved the .csv file your created earlier
- Select the file
- Click Open
New Major List Example
You want to create a new Major List called All Majors, which will contain all of your majors from the pool of options in the Majors section. This list will be open to all applicants to select from on the application (i.e. no rule in place)
- Within Major Lists, click the + New Major List button
- Type “All Majors” in the Name field
- Since this list is open to all, leave the Rule field blank
- Click the Add icon (
) next to all the majors that you’d like to add in the “Available Majors” section
Delete A Major List Example
You want to delete the Major English (code Eng123) from the Major List “All Majors” but leave it in the larger pool of majors within the Majors section, so it can be added back in the future, without having to recreate the major.
- Within Major Lists, click the “All Majors” Major List
- Click the Trashcan icon (
) next to the major, English (code Eng123)
- Click the Save button (
)
Remember, majors must be on a Major List for them to populate to your application. Those majors that are only in the Major section but not included in any Major List will not appear on your application.
