The main Prospects page contains information about prospects that have displayed interest in being recruited by your college. There are five main ways a student can sign up and appear within the Prospects page:
- Application (in-progress; started but not completed an application)
- CRP (College Redirection Pool; open annually from April 1 – August 31)
- College Recruiter (prospect clicks the “Get Recruited” icon on your campus profile or adds your campus to their “College Recruiter” list in their profile under College Planning | Postsecondary Plans)
- TAAP (Transfer Assured Admissions Policy – UNC campuses only)
- Manual (added by the campus with a customizable source name when manually creating a prospect)
Prospect information can be exported from this pool of prospects using the prospect export settings and prospect export projects. For detailed information on how to do so please see the CrossConnect: Recruitment Export Settings and Export Projects documentation.

- Click the + New button (
) at the top of the screen
- You are required to enter an Email address, First name, Last name and Source for the prospect (all other fields are optional)
-
- The source can be whatever you want (ex: College Fair; Campus Tour; Open House, etc.)
- You can type in the source of “Manual” if you want to distinguish manually added sources from those populated from CFNC.org
- Click the Save button (
) to save your new prospect or click the Cancel button (

A closed prospect is someone who was a prospect of your institution and no longer is. A prospect is automatically closed by the system when:
- Application Source prospects are automatically closed once the prospective student successfully submits their in-progress CFNC.org application (they are now an applicant and not an Application Source prospect).
- Get Recruited source prospects are automatically closed if the prospective student removes your campus from their “Get Recruited” list.
- CRP source prospects are automatically closed when the College Redirection Pool data is purged from the system annually in February/March
- TAAP and campus created prospects must be closed manually.
To manually close a prospect:
- From the list of open prospects, click on the prospect you want to edit
- Click the Edit button (
)
- Click the Close button (
)
An open prospect is an active applicant you can recruit. Someone becomes an open prospect automatically a few different ways:
- Someone who has an in-progress application to your campus (“Application” source prospect)
- Someone who listed your campus in their “Get Recruited” list in their CFNC.org profile (“College Recruiter” prospect)
- Someone who completed the College Redirection Pool form (“CRP” prospect)
- Someone who completed the Transfer Assured Admissions Policy registration form (“TAAP” prospects). For UNC campuses only.
Any manually created prospect automatically saves as an open prospect (see Manually Adding a Prospect section above for more details on creating new prospects).
You can manually re-open a closed prospect, to put the student back in the prospect pool (moving them from “closed” back to “open”):
-
- From the list of closed prospects, click on the prospect you want to edit
- Click the Edit button (
)
- Click the Reopen button (
